Andrew W. Stephenson practices in the areas of construction, labor law and corporate compliance, representing owners, architect-engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors in virtually all phases of both the private and public sectors of the construction industry. Mr. Stephenson is the Practice Group Leader of our firm-wide Construction Industry Practice Group. In addition, Mr. Stephenson is the Partner in charge of pro bono work undertaken by Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Stephenson’s construction experience covers the drafting and negotiation of construction contract documents for, and counsel during the administration of, a wide-range of both medium size and large, complex building and infrastructure projects including $1 billion design-build projects both domestically and internationally. Mr. Stephenson has also been involved in the construction of numerous power generation facilities, including both nuclear and fossil fuel power plants.

Mr. Stephenson’s dispute resolution experience involves representation of local and international public, quasi-public and private owners, contractors and specialty trade subcontractors in a wide variety of construction claims. This representation has involved all forms of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, project neutrals, arbitrations and dispute review boards as well as traditional litigation before juries, state and federal boards of contract appeals, bench trials in the state and federal courts, the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission and the National Labor Relations Board. This trial experience covers hearings lasting from one to seventy-two days.

In addition to this extensive experience as an advocate in alternative dispute resolution matters, Mr. Stephenson is frequently asked to serve as a private arbitrator or mediator in construction disputes, where he is known to the parties and/or their counsel and his experience and negotiation skills are sought as a way to facilitate resolution of disputes.
