Dr. Charles Sidman teaches and does research as Professor of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology in the College of Medicine, and Professor of Management in the College of Business, at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also speaks, coaches and consults widely on the topics of innovation, ethics and cultural diversity, and fulfills leadership roles in the field of financing and launching new ventures. Previously, he held positions in public and private universities, and other not-for-profit and for-profit enterprises in the U.S. and abroad. He has published over ninety research papers and patents, has consulted or lectured at over two hundred companies and organizations worldwide, and is presently working on several books. Industries and functions in which Dr. Sidman has experience include Biomedicine, Pharmaceuticals, Education, Equipment, Information Technology, Materials Science, Consumer Goods, Transportation, Fine Arts, Research and Development, Human Resources, Strategic Management and Corporate Responsibility. His education includes AB and AM degrees in Biochemistry and a PhD in Immunology from Harvard University, an MBA in Management from University of Cincinnati, sabbatical study in Complex Systems at Santa Fe Institute, and numerous shorter workshops and courses. Dr. Sidman's diverse activities are unified by a core interests in evolution and complex systems, and he observes that similar principles apply to biological organisms, human populations and cultures, and business organizations, strategies, industries and economies. These widely varying spheres can all be understood and effectively managed by combining sound business practices and behavioral psychology with the paradigms of evolution and complex systems. Dr. Sidman splits home and work life between Maine and Ohio, which he often commutes between and from flying his own aircraft, and in recent years has become a passionate devotee of ballroom dancing.
