Chrisan Herrod, CISA
Chrisan joined Compliance Spectrum in April 2006 as V.P. Strategic Alliances and Executive Editor of IT Compliance Magazine. She is responsible for advising clients on creating and managing IT compliance programs and driving strategic and thought-leadership/research activities for the Magazine.
Prior to joining Compliance Spectrum, Chrisan was the Chief Security Officer at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) where she was responsible for the Commission’s information security, business continuity and IT auditing/ compliance programs.
Her private sector experience includes Director of Global IT Security at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Prior to joining GSK, she was the Director of Information Security at Fannie Mae, a leading real estate, financial institution.
Her previous government experience includes assignments at the National Defense University in Washington D.C. where she served as Department Chair and Professor of Systems Management. She also served as a Senior Executive with the Department of Defense from 1993 to 1998 as the Program Director for the Information Security Program Office.
Chrisan is currently completing her PhD in Information Security at the University of Fairfax. She recently completed writing and editing the 2007 Risk Management chapter of the ISACA CISM review manual. She teaches information security courses at University of Fairfax in Northern Virginia.
