David J. Brummond
David J. Brummond is a Senior Sanctions Advisor in the Office of Foreign Assets Control in the US Treasury Department. He assists in the development of compliance policy, analyzes sanctions violations, and develops recommendations for appropriate OFAC responses. He also promotes understanding and awareness of OFAC sanctions programs among industry groups. Mr. Brummond assumed his current position in July 2006. Previously he served as Legal Counsel to the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program at the Treasury Department. Before coming to Treasury in 2003, he served as General Counsel to the National Fraternal Congress of America, the trade association representing fraternal benefit societies; was Assistant Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII), a trade association of property/casualty insurers; and served in various capacities on the staff of NAIC, including the positions of General Counsel and Acting Staff Director. He has a law degree from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University.
