Evelyn Howell is Vice President, Global Business Practices & Compliance for Sara Lee Corporation. She is primarily responsible for the ethics and compliance program oversight and administration for Sara Lee’s worldwide operations covering approximately 46,000 employees in nearly 40 countries. Howell has extensive and progressively responsible experience in external audit (Arthur Andersen) and internal audit (United Technologies, Mallinckrodt, Inc.). Howell graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, Major in Accounting from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. Under full Arthur Andersen scholarship, she attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she obtained her MBA in Finance. Howell is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Howell serves on the steering committee of Sara Lee’s Minority Forum (former Chair) and is an active member of Sara Lee’s Women’s Network. She serves on the boards of De Paul University’s Institute for Business and Professional Ethics, Ascend – The National Asian American Society of Accountants, Inc., and Global Protocol, Inc. Howell is a member of the Ethics and Compliance Officers Association and the Conference Board’s Global Council for Business Conduct. She was a member of Junior Achievement’s Blue Ribbon Panel for Excellence in Ethics.
