Michael Bednar is the Senior Director of Operations Compliance of the South Business Unit for Walmart Stores, Inc., the largest retailer in the world.  Walmart has over 7200 facilities operating in 15 countries and employs more than 2 million associates.

Michael is currently responsible for driving compliance within approximately 1250 Walmart, Sam’s Club, Neighborhood Market and Logistic facilities in the South Business Unit, including Puerto Rico.  This responsibility includes leading the field team of directors, overseeing compliance areas including environmental, food safety, privacy, employment, product safety, ATF and regulatory relationships.

Michael joined Walmart, Inc. in 1989 with the Sam’s Club Division where he spent 15 years in operations.  Michael had full responsibility for running 5 different club operations where he earned the reputation of an accomplished leader, manager and trainer. 

In 2004, he joined Walmart’s Corporate Compliance organization where he was instrumental in designing and developing the compliance field organization.  Michael was a key player in the creation of the compliance auditing tool and led the development of training initiatives within the compliance organization.  Michael has been the Divisional Director over the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast Wal-Mart, Inc. operations.

Michael received his B.S in Marketing/Management from Missouri State University in 1991 and his M.S. in Human Resource Management from Lindenwood University in 2003.
