Dr Rodney Irwin is the Group Director Risk Management and Internal Control at TNT NV based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He is responsible for TNT’s compliance progamme related to the Dutch corporate governance code and the Dutch Financial Markets Supervision Act with regards to risk management and internal control over financial reporting. His professional portfolio also extends into the area of Corporate Responsibility for which he is responsible for external and internal report of TNT’s social and environmental performance. This work has been recognised with TNT achieving the global leadership position on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for last three years. Rodney is also the Chair of TNT’s risk management council and an active member of TNT’s ethics, disclosure and corporate responsibility committees. As Global Project director, Rodney successfully led the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, 302 and 906 requirements in the Netherlands, UK, France, Germany, Australia and Italy becoming the first foreign registrant in the Netherlands to issue a clean SOx 404 opinion in an integrated Form 20F / Annual report. After deregistration from the SEC, TNT has continued to embrace the positive elements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and has continued to roll the compliance efforts globally including to recent major acquisitions in Brazil, India and China. Prior to his current role, Rodney was the head of TNT’s international audit function for 5 years and before joining TNT he held a variety of finance positions in Public Accounting (Ernst & Young), Motorola and Santander Rodney holds an Honours Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Queens University of Belfast, a Masters Degree in Management form Birmingham City University and a Doctorate in Business Administration (Cum Laude) from ISM in Paris and New York. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, a Specialist Member of the Institute of Risk Management London and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. He is currently a matriculated student at the University of Cambridge England where he is reading for a Masters degree in Sustainability Leadership. Rodney has participated as a frequent speaker at training seminars and conferences for a variety of professional organisations in Europe and the US.
