Sheryl is currently the SVP/Chief Compliance and Audit Officer at the University of California, Office of the President. Ms Vacca directs the University’s system-wide compliance and audit programs applicable to the ten campuses, five medical centers, the national laboratories managed for the Department of Energy, the Office of the President, and all related University activities.  Specific functions Sheryl manages includes compliance standards and procedures; compliance and ethics training; internal and external audits; investigations; program evaluation, monitoring and communications; reporting mechanisms; Regental and UC policy compliance; risk assessment; statutory and regulatory compliance and special area compliance (such as research, hospital operations, environmental health and safety and athletics, etc).  In previous positions, Sheryl has served as a Director for Deloitte and Touche LLP where she was the West Coast Practice Leader and National Lead for Internal Audit, Life Sciences and Health Care.  Ms. Vacca led engagements with life science and health care organizations on different aspects of compliance and internal audit programs, assisted with investigations, plans of correction, corporate integrity agreements and due diligence.  Sheryl also served as the Vice President, Internal Audit/Corporate Compliance Officer for a large Northern California Health Care System where she developed the Systemwide compliance program and internal audit function.  Additionally, Sheryl developed governing board education, policies and procedures and board member recruitment for each of the organizations (52) as well as the parent organization.  Sheryl was responsible for the governing board conference held annually.

Sheryl is published and has presented nationally in the field of health care compliance and internal audit to professional organizations, such as Health Care Compliance Association, Health Care Finance Management Association, Medical Group Management Association, AHIMA, AHIA, American Bar Association and the Practicing law Institute.  Sheryl is a Registered Nurse with her Masters Degree in Science with a special focus on Administration.
