Steve Koslow is the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer for CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wisconsin. He directs the teams that design and implement the controls required to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and expectations related to market conduct. In addition, Steve oversees employees who assess compliance risk, monitor compliance work being performed across the company, establish standards and processes, and intervene when necessary to ensure compliance requirements are being met.

From 1999 until joining CUNA Mutual in December 2007, Steve worked as a Director in the Governance, Risk & Compliance area for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP, in Chicago, Illinois. Previously, Steve held positions as Counsel for MetLife and as an Attorney for law firms in Chicago and Denver. Prior to that, Steve was a teacher at the Arabian American Oil Company Schools in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and for the Monona Grove School District in Monona, Wisconsin.

Steve earned a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in elementary education and a Master’s Degree in educational policy studies from the University of Wisconsin. In 1990, he received a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Northwestern University School of Law.

Steve is a member of the Colorado Bar and the Illinois Bar. He formerly held a Certified Independent Assessor designation from the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association. Steve has published articles in several industry publications, and he has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
