Steve Epstein

Steve Epstein has been the Chief Counsel, Ethics and Compliance at The Boeing Company since September 2009. In this capacity, he oversees Boeing’s Law Department’s work in ethics and compliance matters, supports the Office of Internal Governance, and serves as the Law Department’s principal interface with federal executive and legislative branch ethics officials.
Prior to joining Boeing, Steve was the Ethics and Compliance (Government) Leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he managed the firm’s federal contracting ethics and compliance practice as well as its international business compliance and state/local contracting.
From 1999-2007, Steve was the Director of the Standards of Conduct Office at the Department of Defense, where he oversaw DoD’s ethics and compliance program, served as the ethics counselor for the Secretary of Defense and the Department’s senior civilian and military leadership, and represented the Department in interagency consultations with the Office of Government Ethics, Office of Management and Budget, Congress, and the Office of the Counsel to the President.
Earlier in his career, Steve served his country as a line officer and as a judge advocate in the U.S. Navy, carrying out assignments on board ships, at overseas military bases, and in Washington. In this role, he developed a keep appreciation for the application of ethics and compliance in an international environment, the value of diplomacy, and the deterrent effect of foreign prisons.
Steve was graduated from Washington and Lee University (B.A.), the University of California (M.A.), and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D.). He is admitted to practice law in Texas and the District of Columbia.
